Tying shoes, some videos and my favorite dumbbell workout

Active Parent Balance
Balance life with kids while achieving your fitness goal

Last week’s highlights

Did you know I have a YouTube channel? It is less than fancy and very raw but it’s there. Below are a couple videos you might be interested in.
- 3 Things that kept me out of shape
- 5 Factors keeping parents from losing weight and getting stronger
- 3 Ways parents can lose weight without counting calories
The audio is garbage and it’s mostly a train wreck so far but the info is stellar!

Something to think about

Think about when your kid starts something new like tying their shoes - It’s hard for them at first but repetition equals habit. Living an active life is no different.

Recipe/Meal prep

High Protein Parfait
¾ cup Siggi’s Skyr
1 Scoop of your favorite protein powder
Big handfull of blueberries
¼ cup of chopped walnuts (pecans are great too)
¼ cup of rolled oats (optional)
Mix it all together and enjoy!

Workout

This is my favorite go-to when I need a quick pump. All you need is a set of dumbbells and 10-15 minutes of time (because I know the kids be keeping you busy!).

Do 8-10 reps for three rounds:
Squat Press
Biceps Curls
Chest Flies
Skull crushers (sounds horrible!)
Chest press
Follow along with a video I made a while back for a client of mine.

Motivation

At first your journey is going to be messy, hard, frustrating…. but don’t give up. Just like we encourage our kids to keep trying I want to encourage you to keep trying, messing up and struggling until you are living the active life you desire. Trust me it’s worth it!

And with that I will leave you to it. Enjoy this long weekend, enjoy your kids and most of all, don’t stop moving.
