Sleep for fat loss, Light dumbbells, and killer spring rolls

Active Parent Balance
Balance life with kids while achieving your fitness goal

We’re officially back! A couple months ago I told you that things would be back to normal soon and, well, it took longer than planned but the garage/gym renos are finally at a place where I am able to start focusing on other things again.

That being said - You are the first to get the news that I am starting a new workout group called “Stronger Before Sunrise” for busy parents who want to workout while others are sleeping. If you are local to me and are curious about it, hit that reply button and we’ll chat!

For now, let’s get back into our weekly email.

2 Fitness Tips

1. Better sleep = better fat loss - Long story short, when you don’t get enough sleep (4-6 hrs/night)  your body releases various hormones that make you feel hungrier, care less about the food choices you make, and more calorie dense foods. This is a perfect storm for eating less foods that serve your fitness goal. Unless your goal is to get softer and feel heavier in which case you’re on the right track!

2. Do you have dumbbells that are too light? Focus on form and set a slower tempo for your reps. Try a 3 count as you move the weight and a 4-5 count as you return to the start position. You will feel the burn. If the weight is still too light then you should probably just bite the bullet and invest in a heavier set of dumbbells. Trust me, investing in your health is always worth it!

Vietnamese Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce

These fresh spring rolls take a little bit of time to make but they are SO worth it. Especially on a hot summer day. I used to make this for Laura and me to enjoy on the deck while the kids played.

That’s all for this week. Next week I’m going to put out a special supplement review so Stay Tuned!!!
