Do These 5 Things To Maximize Your Fitness Goal

Simple isn't always easy but it always works

Do These 5 Things To Maximize Your Fitness Goal

No matter what your fitness goal there are 5 things that will make or break your chances of achieving it. Whether you want to lose fat, build muscle or increase your overall performance, the 5 things I am going to list for you need to be done in order to maximize your results. I’m not saying you can’t reach your goal if you are missing one or two of these habits but do all 5 and you are much more likely to hit that goal.

  1. Resistance training - Move something heavy, repeat and do it a minimum of 2-3 times per week. Even if you are trying to burn fat, focusing on muscular development will help you with your fat loss goal.

  2. Cardio (light or intense) - If you are building muscle or strength keep the cardio light (lots of steps, light jogging) but if fat loss is your target throw a couple HIIT workouts per week for maximum results.

  3. Eat Right - Lots of veggies, about 1gram of protein per target bodyweight and you will be on track. If adding size/strength, eat until just past full. If losing fat, stop eating when the hunger is gone. You can count calories if you want but it is not necessary at the beginning. Oh, and carbs aren’t the enemy but cutting out the junk food goes a long way too.

  4. Recharge - When we’re stressed our body releases the hormone cortisol which makes it harder to burn fat. Give yourself a chance to relax and recharge each day. Decompress in a healthy way (not scrolling or drinking excessively) and let your mind and body recharge.

  5. Sleep - Poor sleep leads to poor choices. It also makes it harder to get in a quality workout and leads to poor food choices. On top of that, your muscles don’t recover and repair like they should when you are running on fumes. Get your sleep and make it easier for your body to do what it does!

If I had to throw in a bonus it would be stretching. It’s something I don’t do enough of but is great for recovery, strength gains and injury prevention.
